How we scored it
Fixed oil expressed from coconut kernels; entirely lauric-rich triglycerides built from coconut carbon → 1.0, no synthetic fragment.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Commercial coconut oil is expressed or extracted from dried coconut kernel (copra) grown across the tropics, notably the Philippines, Indonesia and India. No petrochemical route exists for the whole oil.
In plain English
Oil pressed from coconut kernels, prized for moisturising skin and hair and adding a light fragrance. It is used as-is from the coconut, without synthetic modification.
CosIng definition: Cocos Nucifera Oil is the fixed oil obtained by expression of the kernels of the seeds of the Coconut, Cocos nucifera L., Palmaceae
