How we scored it
Plant extract: constituents taken from lemon flowers (flavonoids, terpenes, sugars, other metabolites) are all natural origin (n=1); extraction solvent leaves no mass. 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Lemon (Citrus limon) flowers are extracted with water, alcohol or glycol-water and the extract is filtered. No alternative route is significant; any carrier solvent in the commercial grade is declared separately.
In plain English
A plant extract made by soaking lemon blossoms in a solvent such as water or alcohol and filtering the liquid. In products it is used as an emollient and skin-conditioning ingredient. It contains compounds taken from the flowers.
