How we scored it
Vegetable oil: triglycerides of seed-derived fatty acids and glycerol, all n=1, so 1.0. No synthetic fragments.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Seeds of Citrus grandis (listed in CosIng as grapefruit), a citrus-processing by-product, are pressed to expel the oil. No synthetic route exists.
In plain English
A vegetable oil pressed from grapefruit seeds, used as an emollient (softening) and skin-conditioning ingredient and also listed for perfuming. It is made mostly of triglycerides, which are fatty acids bound to glycerin, all made by the seed.
CosIng definition: Citrus Grandis Seed Oil is the oil expressed from the seeds of the Grapefruit, Citrus grandis, Rutaceae
