How we scored it
Whole essential oil cold-pressed from lime peel; limonene, citral and the other constituents are all plant-derived. 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Cold-pressed from lime peel, mainly as a by-product of lime-juice production. No alternative route applies; steam-distilled lime oil is a separate INCI name.
In plain English
A fragrance oil pressed from the peel of limes, giving a sharp, fresh citrus scent. It is mostly limonene with a few percent citral, and comes from peel left over from lime-juice production.
CosIng definition: "Lime Oil". Essential oil expressed from the epicarps of the Lime, Citrus aurantifolia, Rutaceae. It contains chiefly mainly D-limonene and 5% citral (low terpineol)
