How we scored it
Extract of rock rose flowers, leaves and stems; all constituents plant-derived (n=1); solvent leaves no mass. 1 / 1 = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Rock rose (Cistus incanus) harvested in the Mediterranean region is extracted with water, alcohol or a glycol and concentrated. No synthetic route exists; any carrier solvent is declared separately on the INCI.
In plain English
An extract of the flowers, leaves and stems of the rock rose shrub, used in skincare for its skin-conditioning role. It is made by steeping the plant material in a solvent and concentrating the liquid.
CosIng definition: Cistus Incanus Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract is an extract of the flowers, leaves and stems of the rock rose, Cistus incanus, Cistaceae
