How we scored it
Natural animal wax (myricyl palmitate, cerotic acid and related natural long-chain esters); this site's convention: waxes = 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Obtained by melting and purifying honeycomb from honeybee hives. No synthetic manufacturing route is used; it is always a natural bee product.
In plain English
A natural wax made by honeybees to build honeycomb, used to thicken balms and stabilise emulsions. It is harvested and purified directly from the hive.
CosIng definition: Beeswax. The wax obtained from the honeycomb of the bee. It consists primarily of myricyl palmitate, cerotic acid and esters and some high-carbon paraffins
