How we scored it
Botanical extract; every constituent is plant-derived (n = 1). Extraction solvent leaves no mass. 1.0 / 1.0 = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
The herb of parsley (Carum petroselinum, now usually Petroselinum crispum) is extracted with a solvent, then filtered and concentrated. No petrochemical or synthetic route is commercially relevant.
In plain English
An extract of the parsley herb, the same plant used in cooking. It is listed as a skin-conditioning ingredient. It is made by soaking the leafy plant material in a solvent such as water, glycerin or alcohol and concentrating the liquid.
CosIng definition: Carum Petroselinum Extract is an extract of the herb of the Parsley, Carum petroselinum L., Apiaceae
