How we scored it
Aqueous or solvent extract of tea leaves; extracted phytochemical mass is wholly plant-derived → 1.0 by botanical-extract convention.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Extracted from tea plant leaves, grown widely in China, India and East Africa, using water or water/glycol extraction. No petrochemical alternative exists.
In plain English
An extract of tea leaves valued for its antioxidant and soothing properties in skin and hair products. It is drawn out of the leaf by water or solvent extraction.
