How we scored it
Glass of SiO2, CaO, Na2O and P2O5 with CaCl2 and CaF2: every atom is mineral-derived (sand, lime, soda, phosphate, fluorspar). 1.00.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Dominant route: melting silica sand, calcium oxide or carbonate, sodium carbonate, calcium phosphate and calcium fluoride into a bioactive glass, then milling. All raw materials are mined minerals.
In plain English
A finely milled bioactive glass used in oral-care products such as toothpaste. It is an inorganic compound of calcium, sodium, phosphate, silicate, fluoride and chloride, made from mineral raw materials.
CosIng definition: Calcium Sodium Fluorophosphosilicate is the inorganic compound consisting of calcium chloride, calcium fluoride and oxides of silicon, calcium, sodium and phosphorous.
