How we scored it
Glycerol + C18-C36 fatty/dimer acids (natural, oleochemical dimerisation adds no outside atoms), esterified = 1.0.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
A triglyceride made from glycerin and a blend of long-chain and dimerised fatty acids derived from vegetable-oil feedstocks. Dimerisation only joins natural fatty-acid carbons.
In plain English
A thick, waxy conditioning ingredient made from glycerin and long-chain plant fatty acids. It's used to add body and a smooth after-feel to creams and balms.
