How we scored it
Sesquiterpene isolated directly from cedarwood oil by fractional distillation; no atoms added or removed.
What counts. ISO 16128-2 scores the atoms that remain in the final ingredient. Reagents, solvents, catalysts and protecting groups used during manufacture leave no mass behind and are not counted.
Where it comes from
Obtained by fractional distillation of natural cedarwood (Juniperus/Cupressus) essential oil, where it occurs as a major component. Not commercially synthesised from petrochemical feedstock.
In plain English
A woody-smelling fragrance ingredient separated directly from cedarwood essential oil. It gives perfumes and cosmetics a dry, woody cedar note and comes straight from distilled wood oil.
Structure
