We classify every ingredient based on the percentage of its molecular weight derived from renewable resources vs. petroleum.
100% Renewable
Derived entirely from renewable plant or microbial sources. (e.g., Bakuchiol, Squalane from Olives)
Mostly Renewable
The majority of the molecule is from renewable sources, with minor petroleum-based components.
Half Renewable
A significant split between renewable and petroleum origins. (e.g., Polysorbate 20)
Mostly Petroleum
Primarily derived from petrochemicals, with minor renewable parts.
100% Petroleum
Synthesized entirely from non-renewable petroleum resources. (e.g., Mineral Oil, Petrolatum
